Celebrating
Creativity

The Creative Kids Museum is delighted to host Celebrating
Creativity - An Exhibition of Children's Art for the second year!
Celebrating Creativity gives children 16 and under the opportunity to
showcase their works of art to the public. The Creative Kids Museum
believes that creating an opportunity for children to display their
creations helps develop self-esteem, self expression and self worth,
which are integral for the healthy development of a child. |

Fifteen Pound Pink Productions

Learn more about the field of animation as Carol
Beecher and Kevin D.A. Kaurytn, from Fifteen Pound Pink Productions,
take over Artist Space and turn it into a lively animation studio.
Watch and participate as they work on their current production
project, Intergalactic Who’s Who, using classical pencil
animation and digital processing techniques. Intergalactic Who’s
Who is loosely based on Hinterland Who’s Who, a series of
one minute documentaries featuring Canadian animals that was created
by the National Film Board of Canada in the 1970’s. Carol and Kevin will be available to the public Monday to Friday from 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm.
Both Carol Beecher and Kevin D.A. Kaurytn have strong artistic backgrounds. Carol is a well studied artist, having studied at Alberta College of Art and Design, The Banff Centre, and Red Deer College. Carol got involved in the visual arts community while working at Second Story Art Society (now TRUCK), a non-profit artist-run centre. Like Carol, Kevin went to Alberta College of Art and Design and majored in Visual Communication. Together, Carol and Kevin have created Fifteen Pound Pink Productions and have participated and won awards at various film festivals for their production of “Trees!” and “Mr. Reapers Really Bad Morning”. |

Linda Hawke

Join accomplished textile artist, Linda Hawke,
in Artist Space and explore the prairie environment from a gopher’s
eye view of grassland to the kinships found in communities. Through
textile art, investigate and discover the history, emotion, and
nature of a land often taken for granted. Her materials: reclaimed
fabrics, retired sails, worn coveralls and sewing pattern pieces.
Linda Hawke has two passions: art and sharing art with others. She graduated from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design with a combined degree in fine art and art education. Since 1991 she has focused on delivering experiential learning opportunities in museums and art galleries including The Glenbow Museum and the Art Gallery of Calgary. Currently, Linda uses textiles in innovative ways, making two and three dimensional pieces that explore the relationship between one’s self and their landscape.

Lisa Isley

Come and explore the historic world of printing and bookbinding
with Lisa Isley in Artist Space where she will be teaching guests
about book conservation and how to design book binding. Lisa will
show visitors how to print with antique wood type and bind their
own pages into an artist book.
Lisa Isley is a local bookbinder, book conservator, and private press owner. She could be thought of as both a fine artist and steward of historical technique as she strives to build on traditional book making techniques and create modern twists as she experiments with the book as a means of self expression.
