Key Players: Kevin Matieshin

With years of experience in corporate mergers and acquisitions, Kevin has been an intrical and driving force behind the TELUS World of Science and the Creative Kids Museum partnership. Kevin has been involved with the project since the conceptual stages, and in 2005 he became the board chair for the TELUS World of Science. With his open communication approach, Kevin has successfully navigated the long-term objectives of both the TELUS World of Science and the Creative Kids Museum into a common vision of providing children with a facility that uses art to perpetuate creative learning.

When the Creative Kids Museum and TELUS World of Science partnership was initally being discussed, Kevin was among the first to recognize the importance of maintaining the distinct identity of each organization, while creating a well-rounded, seamless guest experience. Through a series of meetings, Kevin facilitated discussions around the partnership idea and as a result, the community will be able to experience a children's museum unique to western Canada.

Under Kevin's leadership, the project has dramatically progressed with the development of a learning and master plan. In addition, Kevin has been essential in acquiring an on-site commitment, securing a 20-million funding commitment from the City of Calgary, and strengthening the board and management team in preparation for the project. As a result, the Creative Kids Museum will find a welcoming home at the TELUS World of Science and in the Calgary community.
