Key Players: Bill Peters

As Chief Executive Officer of the TELUS World of Science and Creative Kids Museum, Bill Peters is keenly aware of the many opportunities available when organizations with common goals and audiences partner.

Bill has long been interested in children's museums, and is a long time member of the Association of Children's Museums. Early on in the development of the Creative Kids Museum, Bill contacted Krista Schlosser, the Museum's Founding President and began conversations about how the TELUS World of Science and Creative Kids Museum might compliment and help each other.

Bill has a very keen appreciation for the difficulties involved in getting new institutions off the ground and running. He sees a strong parallel between children's museums and science centres and the differences these institutions can make in the life of a child. Bill believes children's museums are wonderful additions to the lives of children in that they inspire and compliment learning and personal discovery.

As a practicing photographic artist, Bill has strong ties to Calgary's arts community and has heard, time and again, that this community expects Calgary's science centre to serve as a hub to connect arts and science. “In a city like Calgary, with a population of nearly one million and a dramatic future ahead of us, we need and deserve a great children's museum and a great science centre. These facilities are very important contributors to the future of our city and region.”
